Meeting tab and microphone recording

Next step

Transcribe the recording when you need notes

Start free, upload the downloaded recording, and get searchable text, speaker labels, timestamps, summaries, action items, and document exports.

Record a browser meeting without a bot

Capture the audio already playing in your meeting tab together with your microphone. The recorder does not join the call as a participant, add a bot to the guest list, or require access to your meeting account.

A browser-based meeting recorder for Chrome and Edge

The recorder uses the tab-sharing controls built into Chrome and Edge. Choose the tab running Google Meet, Zoom Web, Microsoft Teams, or another browser meeting, turn on tab audio sharing, and allow microphone access.

Private recording that stays on your device

Meeting capture, audio mixing, preview, and download happen locally in your browser. The recording is not uploaded to or stored in our cloud. It only leaves your device if you separately choose to upload the downloaded file for transcription.

Download the audio or turn it into a transcript

Stop the recorder to preview and download one combined audio file. Keep the file as your meeting recording, or upload it to InstantTranscriber for searchable text, speaker labels, timestamps, summaries, action items, and document exports.

How it works

How to use the Meeting Recorder

  1. Open the meeting in a separate Chrome or Edge tab.
  2. Click Start, choose the meeting tab, and enable tab audio sharing.
  3. Allow microphone access so your side of the conversation is included.
  4. Stop the recording, preview it, and download the audio file.
  5. Transcribe the downloaded file when you need notes, action items, or searchable text.
FAQ

Meeting Recorder questions

Can I record an online meeting without a bot joining?

Yes. This recorder captures the meeting tab and your microphone in your browser. It does not join the meeting as a participant or invite a recording bot.

Which browsers support the meeting recorder?

Use a current version of Chrome or Edge on desktop. Tab-audio capture depends on the browser sharing picker, and support in Safari, Firefox, and mobile browsers is not guaranteed.

Can I record Google Meet, Zoom Web, or Microsoft Teams?

Yes, when the meeting runs in a browser tab that Chrome or Edge allows you to share with audio. Select that exact tab and make sure tab audio sharing is enabled.

Can I download the meeting audio without transcribing it?

Yes. Preview and download the combined audio file for free. Transcription is an optional next step.

Is my meeting recording uploaded to the cloud?

No. Recording, audio mixing, preview, and download run locally in your browser. Your audio is only uploaded if you later choose to submit the downloaded file for transcription.

Do I need permission to record a meeting?

Recording and consent rules vary by location and organization. Tell participants and obtain any consent required by applicable law and workplace policy before recording.
